In July 2024, the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), also known as the EU Supply Chain Act, came into force. The directive obliges companies to respect human rights and environmental standards by implementing defined due diligence obligations.
- From July 2028, companies with more than 3,000 employees and EUR 1.5 billion in net annual turnover worldwide are expected to be affected.
- From 2029, the scope will be extended to companies with 1,000 or more employees and EUR 450 million in net annual turnover.
The scope of application extends to the company's own business activities, those of its subsidiaries and direct business partners, and – in the event of indications of human rights violations or environmental damage – also to indirect business partners.
